Fedloan Servicing works in conjunction with the Department of Education and handles many of the financial transactions for those who wish to make payments on student and other educational loans. To make a payment on your account balance, use one of the methods listed below.
Option 1: Pay by Phone
If you would like to make a payment on your Department of Education loan through Fedloan Servicing over the phone, you can do so by calling their pay-by-phone automated system at (800) 699-2908. When calling, make sure to have your account number available.

Option 2: Payment Mailing Address
To mail your payment to Fedloan Servicing, you can send in a check or a money order made out to Fedloan Servicing and write your account number on the payment as well. Send it to the following address at least five business days before the payment is due so it arrives on time:

Option 3: Direct Debit
Direct Debit through Fedloan Servicing is a way to automatically pay your Department of Education loan on a schedule that does not require any input from you after its initial set up. To use this service, you will have to log in to your account at the Fedloan Servicing website and create a PIN by going through the application for it. After you receive your PIN, you will then input your billing details and choose how much to pay monthly. To finalize enrollment in Direct Debit for Fedloan Servicing, you can either sign your application electronically with your PIN or print the application and sign and date it then send it to the address on the application.
Option 4: Online Payments though MyFedloan Portal
If you wish to pay your Department of Education loan online through Fedloan Servicing, you’re going to have to go through the online registration forms first, which can be accessed by visiting the website’s Create an Account page. There, you will be asked to enter information pertaining to who you are, which will include entering your SSN and your name along with setting up your user name and password and your security options. Once you have completed these forms, you will have the opportunity to make payments on your loan online, which you can do by following these instructions:
- Navigate to the URL myfedloan.org
- Click the “Sign In” button on the left side of the screen
- Enter your user name and password as you created during registration
- Click the “Sign In” button
- Click the “Make a Payment” link
- Input the details for your payment source
- Click the “Make a Payment” button
